Two truck drivers and a passenger are dead after a head on collision between two rigs on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred on the afternoon of July 11th on US Highway 20 in Harney County, Oregon.
According to KTVZ News, 57-year-old Darrell Thew was driving a 1997 Peterbilt east on Highway 20 when he crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2023 Freightliner driven by 57-year-old Beth Mckinnon.
Both drivers died at the scene, along with Mckinnon’s passenger, 62-year-old James Mckinnon.
The reason for Thew’s sudden swerve is unclear. The accident is being investigated by the Harney County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
