Transportation technology supplier Transflo has partnered with Comdata Inc. to introduce Transflo Wallet, a cardless fuel payment system that enables freight brokers to send fuel advances to carriers and their drivers via a mobile app.

This digital payment system is designed to make fuel transactions more efficient and more secure than conventional payment methods such as checks and plastic fuel cards.

“As we assessed long-standing issues in the industry, fuel payments emerged as the natural next step in extending our broker and carrier automation capabilities,” Transflo CEO Renee Krug said in the April announcement.

Transflo Wallet, which combines Transflo’s mobile app technology with Comdata’s proprietary virtual card capabilities, also helps carriers manage and reduce their fuel expenses.

This more streamlined, secure payment system can foster stronger business relationships between brokers and their carrier networks, Transflo said.

Chicago-based freight brokerage Redwood Logistics, which ranks No. 52 on Transport Topics’ Top 100 list of the largest logistics companies in North America, has agreed to test the fuel payment system.

“We’re committed to building deep relationships and enabling our carriers to maximize profitability and we’re excited to beta test Transflo Wallet as another tool to help us do that,” Redwood CEO Mark Yeager said.

Transflo, a Pegasus Transtech company, offers mobile communications, telematics and business process automation software for the North American freight transportation industry.
