A truck driver has been charged after running over a herd of goats last week.

The incident happened in New South Wales, Australia on December 7th.

According to My GC News, the 51-year-old driver was accused of killing the goats after police discovered 78 of them dead along the side of a road. Another eight were found seriously injured and had to be euthanized.

Just the day before, the same truck driver had to be rescued by emergency crews after getting stuck in floodwaters after driving past a road closure sign.

The unnamed driver has since been issued a Court Attendance Notice for disregard barrier regulating traffic by passing in vehicle, commit an act of aggravated cruelty upon an animal, and driver of vehicle injuring animal fail to alleviate pain.

He is due to appear at Bourke Local Court on Thursday 23 February 2023.
