A semi truck driver has been charged following a Sunday morning crash into a home that left one person dead and two others injured near Erwin, Tennessee.
The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. on July 2 in Unicoi County, Tennessee.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) says that 41 year old Connecticut resident Robenson Vertus was driving a truck west on I-26 when, near Exit 36, he drove off the right side of the roadway through a grassy area, through a fence, then struck a vehicle and a home.
Two residents of the home suffered critical injuries.
A third resident passed away as a result of the crash.
Vertus suffered minor injuries.
Vertus was arrested on a charge of criminally negligent homicide, THP said. He was booked into Unicoi County Jail in Erwin.
