One of the truck drivers struck by a Greyhound bus while parked outside of a rest stop says he jumped in to help passengers out of the burning vehicle after the accident.
Truck driver David says he was fast asleep when his truck was hit, but as soon as he realized what had happened, he got out of his rig and went straight to work helping people out of the burning bus.
“It was an axle fire. It was right over the motor and that fuel tank we had to put it out,” David said to KMOX News. “They’dve burned to death in that d*mn thing. And there was a big pregnant lady…got her out the window.”

The accident is still under investigation. It is unclear why the bus crashed into the line of parked trucks. The National Transportation Safety Board issued the following statement about the incident:
The NTSB, in coordination with the Illinois State Police, is sending a team to conduct a safety investigation into Wednesday’s multivehicle crash involving a Greyhound motorcoach and three truck tractor-trailer combination units on Interstate 70 near Highland, Illinois.
