Two people were ejected from a semi truck after wrecking on Rabbit Ears Pass on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened on August 2nd in Routt County, Colorado between County Road 20 and Forest Service Road 296, seven miles east of Steamboat Springs.

According to Steamboat Pilot News, the semi truck was traveling west on US 40 when the driver took a curve too fast and lost control. The rig then rolled and jackknifed, ejecting both the driver and the passenger in the process. Both people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor, but suspect excessive speed as the cause of the wreck. The deceased were identified as 51-year-old Bernardo Rodrigues Aldapa and 40-year-old April Elizabeth Baca.
