A motorist involved in a road rage shooting against a truck driver has been identified, but the incident has Nashville truckers “shocked.”

The incident happened last Thursday, July 27th, in Nashville Tennessee after a pickup truck driver had trouble merging in front of a semi truck getting onto Interstate 24 in traffic. A passenger in the pickup shot through the windshield of the semi truck, and the pickup truck driver fled the scene. The pickup truck driver eventually turned himself in after seeing photos of himself and his pickup in the media.

Now, truckers who frequent the Nashville area are feeling just a little more nervous about navigating traffic and motorists. Truck driver Richard Lathan says he drives through the area where the shooting occurred every day, and has encountered raging motorists himself in his ten years of trucking.

“There was someone who came out to one parking lot speeding, and I almost hit him,” Lathan said to WSMV 4. “These individuals pulled a gun out on me and there were five of them. Luckily, A police car was close by and I had a co-driver at the time, so it didn’t go as far as it could’ve gone.”

“To be shot at moving in these trucks anywhere past ten miles an hour is so dangerous to everyone on the road,” Lathan said. “I’m truly shocked. It’s scary, it’s very scary for someone to get so upset that they’d tried to take your life,” Lathan said.

Police are now working with the driver of the pickup to locate the person who actually shot at the truck driver.
