A truck driver is dead after hitting his head during an incident with a semi truck in reverse early on Wednesday morning. 

The accident happened on April 16th at about 5:48 a.m. in the parking lot of Delta Cargo at the airport in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

According to Gephardt Daily, Salt Lake City Police were called to 3622 W. 510 North on reports of an incident involving a commercial vehicle and a pedestrian.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, a commercial-sized truck was backing up when it hit the man, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground,” said the Salt Lake City Police Department. “Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene.”

KSL 5 reports that the man killed was a truck driver.

“We are saddened by this tragic accident and will cooperate with any investigations,” Samantha Moore Facteau, a spokesperson with Delta Air Lines, said. “Out of respect for the individual, his family and the investigation process, we’ll decline any further comment at this time.”

The truck involved in the incident was not directly working for Delta Cargo. No further details have been released.
