The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) division released the results of a major truck blitz that took place in earlier this month.
The commercial vehicle enforcement operation took place April 7 through April 11 in southeastern New Mexico.
Troopers say that the purpose of the operation was to increase highway safety by enforcing commercial vehicle laws, conducting thorough inspections, monitoring weight limits, and helping prevent accidents caused by improperly maintained or operated vehicles.

- 25 Level 1 inspections
- 602 Level 2 inspections
- 154 Level 3 inspections
- 187 vehicles were placed out-of-service for a critical item violation
- 293 out-of-service violations issued
- 40 commercial vehicle drivers were placed out-of-service
“With the high volume of commercial vehicles traveling across the state, our officers play a critical role in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations,” said NMSP. “The New Mexico State Police will continue with proactive enforcement efforts throughout the state to ensure that commercial vehicles operate safely and comply fully with the law. Through ongoing dedication and collaboration, our officers take pride in contributing to the safety and well-being of everyone traveling on New Mexico’s roadways.”
