A young man is dead after being run over during a fight at an El Paso truck stop early on Easter morning.

The incident occurred at a Petro Travel Center in Socorro, a suburb of El Paso, Texas.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff, police were called to the travel center in the early morning hours of April 20th on reports of a “fight in progress.” When officers arrived, they found that a man had already been transported to a hospital by other civilians, and were left to figure out what happened.

Witnesses told investigating officers that 20-year-old Abraham Alvarado had run over 18-year-old Leonel Monarrez during the fight at an El Paso truck stop. Monarrez was then transported to the hospital by other individuals, where he was later pronounced dead.

Alvarado has since been charged with murder and aggravated assault. He is currently in jail on a $650,000 bond.

Police have not yet determined a motive. The incident is still under investigation.
