An Indiana truck driver says he will retire early after winning the fourth-largest jackpot in Hoosier Lotto history.

An unnamed truck driver who lives in Perry County, Indiana, claimed a $42.5 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot, according to an April 25 news release from the Hoosier Lottery.

Lottery officials say that the truck driver won a free ticket after matching two out of six numbers on a previous drawing, and then redeemed that free ticket at On the Fly in Tell City for the March 12 drawing.

After scanning the free ticket at a grocery store, the truck driver learned that he had matched all six numbers and would need to contact Hoosier Lottery to claim his prize.

Unable to believe that he hit the jackpot, he later asked a co-worker to scan the ticket with his Hoosier Lottery app, and then had a family member print out the winning numbers from a convenience store terminal.

“I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I still cannot believe it. I keep thinking any day I might wake up and find out it’s a dream,” the truck driver said.

After collecting his prize, the truck driver plans to retire early to spend more time watching Indiana University and Tell City High School basketball and riding his motorcycle.
