A bridge that buckled and eventually collapsed after being hit by a semi truck has now been demolished.

The accident happened on May 27th when a southbound semi truck hauling a crane on Interstate 27 hit the FM 928 bridge.

According to ABC 7, the bridge initially buckled after the impact, but completely collapsed later that day. The collapse was caught on video by a passing motorist.

Crews finished demolishing the bridge on Tuesday, June 3rd, and the debris has been removed from I-27. The southbound lanes of the interstate remain closed.

TxDOT will now inspect the remaining sections of the structure and decide whether or not they are safe to keep.

No information on bridge replacement has been released.
