A traffic stop on a speeding commercial vehicle resulted in the discovery of more than a dozen safety violations, according to the Iowa State Patrol (ISP)

On June 16, 2025, the ISP’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit stopped a vehicle hauling a trailer in Wapello County, Iowa, after clocking it traveling at speeds of 100 m.p.h. in a posted 65 m.p.h. zone.

“In addition to the speed, seventeen other CMV safety violations were discovered including no operable brakes on the trailer,” ISP said.

Troopers did not provide information on the other safety violations or citations that were issued.

“This is the time of the year when our traffic fatalities tend to increase. Slow down, put the phone down, and don’t become a statistic!” troopers said.
