Authorities in Maryland are investigating an act of attempted arson at a trucking company facility in Ridgely.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal said that the arson attempt occurred at Murphy’s Transport, located at 421 West Belle Road in Ridgely.
Officials said that Murphy’s Transport owner Bryan Saathoff spotted “significant fire damage to the interior of one truck” on the morning of July 7, 2025.
He later saw that other trucks had been targeted by attempted arson, though they failed to fully ignite.
Saathoff called Maryland State Police, who handed the case to the Maryland State Fire Marshal for investigation. “Deputy State Fire Marshals have determined that someone attempted to set multiple vehicles on fire,” the agency said.
The total damage is estimated at $100,000.
