A baby raccoon was rescued from the inside of a semi truck engine compartment in Colorado earlier this month.

The incident happened on July 15th at about 10:30 a.m. in Arapahoe County, Colorado.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office, Animal Services Officer Wylde was called to the scene when a truck driver found the critter sleeping in his engine compartment.

Officer Wylde woke the baby raccoon up using a catch pole and eventually got the animal to grab onto the pole. The officer was then able to pull the animal out to safety.

The creature has since been returned to its natural habitat without incident. Shout out to that truck driver for a thorough pre-trip inspection that saved this animal’s life!
