A truck driver is dead after a collision with a train that derailed nearly a dozen train cars. 

The accident happened in Missouri on Sunday evening, May 21st in Monroe County, Missouri at around 6:30 p.m. 

According to KTVO, 65-year-old Russell Minnis was heading eastbound on Highway 24 when he failed to stop at a railroad crossing and collided with the train. The force of the impact caused nearly a dozen train cars to derail. 

Minnis was killed in the wreck and pronounced dead at the scene. 

The 45-year old train conductor, Matthew Sunderland was not hurt in the incident. State troopers say that the railroad crossing was equipped with a crossbar, bell, and warning light.
