One truck driver is dead and another was seriously injured in a cross-over crash on an Illinois interstate over the weekend.

The crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, near Ina, Illinois.

According to Illinois State Police (ISP), a commercial vehicle was traveling south on I-57 at mile marker 83 when it crossed over the median and struck a second commercial vehicle traveling northbound on I-57.

The trucks collided head-on and caught fire.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

Northbound I-57 was shut down until around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The crash is under investigation.
