The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has closed both directions of I-84 on Tuesday morning for multiple vehicle crashes amid icy conditions.

According to ODOT, I-84 is closed in both directions between Hood River and Troutdale (mile markers 17 — 64) as of around 5:30 a.m. on December 20.

The Corbett Fire Department reported a multi-vehicle crash and “extremely icy conditions” on I-84 at Troutdale.

At 9:30 a.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported a fatality in a crash on eastbound I-84 at Troutdale near Dalton Point “involving multiple vehicles and semi trucks.” MCSO says that the interstate will be closed for an extended period and asks drivers to use alternate routes.

It isn’t clear yet how many vehicles are involved in crashes on I-84 and how many people are injured.
