The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) recently released alarming body cam video of a police dog being unleashed on a truck driver following a police pursuit earlier this month.

The incident began on July 4, 2023, when a Motor Carrier Enforcement officer attempted to pull over 23 year old truck driver Jadarrius Rose on U.S. 35 in Jackson County for a missing mud flap, according to WOIO.

Rose refused to stop and led police on a pursuit.

Police eventually were able to bring the pursuit to a halt by deploying stop sticks.

In the body cam video, you can see Rose exited the truck with his hands up.

“As troopers were attempting to gain compliance by providing verbal commands to the suspect, the Circleville Police Department deployed their canine, which resulted in the suspect being bitten by the canine,” OSHP said.

In the video, you can hear a trooper yelling, “Do not release the dog with his hands up!”

Rose was transported to a hospital for treatment from the dog bite.

The incident is under investigation. It isn’t clear whether the Circleville Police Department could be subject to disciplinary action for the use of the canine.
