Drivers in Utah sat through major backups on Wednesday after an SUV and a semi truck wrecked in the middle of the highway.

The crash happened at 8:45 a.m. on August 9th on Interstate 15 in American Fork, Utah.

According to Fox 13, a Dodge Journey was driving on a spare tire along northbound I-15 at mile marker 276 when the spare tire failed. The SUV slowed down as a result of the failing spare tire, forcing a semi truck coming up behind it to take evasive maneuvers. The driver in the semi truck hauling double managed to swerve into another lane, but clipped the back of the car in the process.

The tractor trailer hauling sand then jackknifed across the highway, blocking most of the highway and bringing traffic to a stop.

No injuries were reported. Five lanes of traffic were closed as crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident, causing traffic to back up for miles. No further information has been released.
