Truck manufacturer Peterbilt has started offering Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems’ Primaax EX severe-duty vocational air suspension system as an option, Woodridge, Ill.-based Hendrickson said.

The suspension system — designed for construction, refuse, mixer, logging and heavy-haul applications — will be available as part of the chassis enhancements for Denton, Texas-based Peterbilt’s 365, 367, 389, 567, 579 and 589 models, it said.

Primaax EX is available in capacities of 46,000 pounds and 52,000 pounds, has a 10-inch ride height and is compatible with drum and air disc brakes, the supplier said.

“Peterbilt is excited to expand our partnership with Hendrickson by adding the Primaax EX to our suspension offerings,” said Jake Montero, assistant general manager-sales and marketing for Peterbilt Motors.

Paccar Inc. unit Peterbilt already offered a variety of Hendrickson products including primary drive suspensions, auxiliary lift axles, steer axles, bumpers and springs. The companies have been working together for more than two decades, according to Hendrickson.

Primaax EX was already available for Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Western Star and Volvo trucks.

The system incorporates optimized suspension geometry, which helps minimize driveline vibrations and control suspension windup and corresponding frame rise, Hendrickson said.
