Peterbilt Motors Co. marked the production of the 100,000th Model 389 at its Denton, Texas, manufacturing plant as a milestone Sept. 7.
The Model 389 was introduced in 2006. The milestone model is equipped with the limited-release Model 389X special edition package. Peterbilt presented the truck to Nacogdoches, Texas-based freight shipping service Massey Motor Freight.
“It is a great honor to receive the 100,000th Model 389 and celebrate this milestone with Peterbilt,” said Massey Motor Freight owner Troy Massey. “Massey Motor Freight’s long-standing relationship with Peterbilt is based on the common values our companies represent and our commitment to exceed customer expectations.”
The Model 389 will end its nearly two-decade production run at the end of the year. The Model 589 was introduced earlier this year to be its replacement. Its production is set to begin in January at the same production facility but is available for order through dealer locations.
