A windmill turbine came loose during transport on Interstate 70 in Maryland on Monday morning.

The incident happened on June 30th in Washington County, Maryland at about 5 a.m.

According to PHL 17, the tractor trailer was hauling the windmill turbine blade along I-70 westbound when it came loose during transport. The blade then ended up crossing the center median, bocking eastbound lanes while the semi truck blocked the westbound lanes.

One person was injured in the incident, and was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear what led to their injuries.

Three lanes of I-70 east and four lanes on I-70 west were closed as crews worked to clear the equipment.

The blade was removed from the median at about 8:10 a.m. No further information has been released.
