A unit of The Patton Logistics Group acquired Milton Transportation and Warehousing and BTR Inc. for an undisclosed sum, the company said.
Watsontown Trucking closed June 27, the Milton, Pa.-based parent company said.
The purchase of Milton Transportation and BTR adds 40 trucks, 300 trailers, two maintenance facilities and a body and alignment shop to the Watsontown Trucking portfolio.
Milton Transportation focuses on flatbed and dry van freight.
Through the acquisition, Patton expects to boost Watsontown Trucking’s regional capacity and reinforce its flexibility.
Patton Warehousing will integrate Milton’s warehousing operations, adding 200,000 square feet of warehouse space in the central Pennsylvania town of Milton.
Further acreage acquired in the deal offers an opportunity to develop up to 350,000 square feet of additional warehouse space in the future, Patton said.
“This acquisition marks another important step in Patton’s growth strategy,” said Patton Logistics Group’s Steve Patton. “It allows us to deepen our presence in key markets, increase capacity and better serve our customers with end-to-end logistics solutions.”
Watsontown Trucking, Patton Warehousing and Patton Logistics already have 525 trucks, 1,800 trailers and operate over 5.2 million square feet of warehouse space. The Patton group also has a freight brokerage division.
Patton’s operations are spread across Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey and Ohio.
Most recently, in April, the company announced a $10 million expansion in southwest Virginia to add a 100,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility.
Patton previously built a 250,000-square-foot logistics center in Dublin, Va., in 2020, adding a further 100,000 square feet of space in 2021.
Watsontown Trucking was founded in 1941 as a coal delivery company. Steve Patton joined the company in 1994, becoming the owner in 1997.
Watsontown Trucking focuses on over-the-road, dedicated truckload and flatbed freight.
The Patton Logistics Group now has more than 1,000 employees.
