Authorities in Iowa responded to pileup crashes near Des Moines and Newton on Wednesday morning.

I-35 Pileup North Of Des Moines

One pileup occurred on I-35 southbound near Huxley, Iowa, about 20 miles north of Des Moines, according to the Weather Channel.

Officials said that at least 15 vehicles were involved in the crash.

It isn’t yet clear whether anyone was injured.

Video captured at the scene shows both passenger and commercial vehicles involved in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but video shared from I-35 in Huxley shows severe winter weather conditions and low visibility from blowing snow. 

I-80 Pileup Near Newton

The Iowa State Patrol also shared an image of a second apparent pileup involving semi trucks on I-80 near Newton. It isn’t clear how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone was hurt. 

The Iowa State Patrol is asking drivers to avoid travel due to hazardous conditions and crashes across the state.
