A truck driver is facing charges after setting his own truck on fire on the side of a Maryland highway. 

42-year-old Robert Steven Silver was arrested on Tuesday, March 4th on charges of second-degree arson, malicious burning/fraud, and reckless endangerment. He was released on $10,000 bond for the October 12th, 2024 incident. 

According to CBS, Silver’s Volvo D13 semi truck broke down on the side of Interstate 68 in Allegany County, Maryland. Silver left the disabled rig on the side of the interstate, but eventually came back and intentionally set it on fire, causing about $30,000 in damage. 

After Silver set fire to the semi truck, he left and went back to his home in Baltimore County. 

Investigators have since determined that the fire was intentional.
