The Willkomm family announced the transfer of ownership of a Wisconsin truck stop to a large travel center chain.

The Willkomm family announced that the Racine PETRO truck stop (located at 717 S. Sylvania Ave. in Sturtevant, Wisconsin), the TA Truck Service, and the Blue Badger Bar & Grill are under the ownership of TA PETRO Corporate, effective March 19, 2025.

“The transfer of ownership allows Michael and Jim Willkomm to focus on other businesses they own,” the family said in a March 18 letter.

The Willkomm family owned and managed the truck stop since 1993. In 1999, they became a PETRO franchisee and added an Iron Skillet restaurant and PETRO:Lube (now TA Truck Service). The Blue Badger Bar & Grill was added in 2020.

“Since 1993, the Willkomm family have served our customers on the corner of Highway 20 & I-94. We’ve been through many changes at this location. We want to thank you for your business and your support over the last thirty-two years. We will miss our employees, customers, and vendors that we’ve partnered with over the years,” said Michael and Jim Willkomm.
