The Georgia State Patrol is searching for a tractor trailer that drove straight through a 12 vehicle pile up crash on Tuesday.

The crash happened on March 25th on Highway 19 in Schley County, Georgia at around 7:50 a.m.

According to 10 WALB, the pile up started when a green 2013 Ford Fusion collided with a silver 2017 Ford Fusion, disabling the silver vehicle. The motorist inside of the silver Ford Fusion was able to get out of the vehicle and make it safely to the shoulder before the car was struck by a tractor trailer.

The semi truck did not stop after hitting the car and drove straight through the crash scene before continuing southbound. Several other vehicles then collided with the crash site, causing a chain reaction crash. A total of 12 vehicles were involved in the incident.

Eight people were taken to a hospital via ambulance for injuries sustained in the wreck, and two more were transported in private vehicles. All injuries were considered non life threatening.

Investigators say that fog was in the area at the time, causing low visibility at the crash site.

The accident is still under investigation and charges are still pending. Anyone with information on the tractor-trailer that left the scene is asked to contact GSP, Post 10, Americus at 229-931-2397.
