A fake trucking company was able to drive away with two loads of beef after a subcontracting incident.
The incident report for the theft was filed on Tuesday, March 25th. The theft occurred at a meatpacking plant on Helton Road in Bean Station, Tennessee.
According to 10 News, Southeastern Provisions meatpacking plant realized something had gone wrong when two different customers reported that they had not received their shipments. Southeastern Provisions called their shipping contractor, who reported they had subcontracted the loads out to a company called “List Trucking Sales.”
The shipping contractor reported that “List Trucking Sales” and their dispatcher, “Ahmed Wengy,” were no longer responding to emails, so police were called to report the fake trucking company.
Investigation revealed that “List Trucking Sales” was not verified at the meatpacking plant when the 80,000 pounds of beef worth $350,000 was loaded onto two trucks. One was scheduled to go to Michigan, and the other was scheduled to be delivered to Kentucky.
No information on arrests or charges has been released, but police say that the name List Trucking Sales “appears to be false as their information cannot be verified.”
