A truck driver was found dead in his truck cab at a Nebraska truck stop two days after his company last heard from him.
Deputies were dispatched to the Love’s Travel Stop in Syracuse, Nebraska on March 28th at about 9:25 a.m. after receiving a call from a trucking company. The company stated that they had not heard from their truck driver in two days, and the GPS indicated his semi truck was parked at the truck stop.
The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports that officers located the semi truck in the truck stop parking lot and contacted a towing company to help them open the locked truck doors. Once inside the truck, officers found 67-year-old Norman Battista, of Indiana, deceased inside of the cab.
The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death, but foul play is not suspected. An autopsy has been scheduled.
