The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) is using a recent crash as a sobering reminder of why motorists need to pay more attention and reduce their speed.

On April 1, OHP took to social media with a message to the motoring public about the dangers of speeding and distracted driving.

Troopers highlighted a recent crash that occurred on the Turner Turnpike as “a graphic reminder to pay attention and not speed!”

“A semi driver was traveling around 70 mph when this pickup hit him from behind at a high rate of speed, going under the trailer, ripping off the truck’s passenger side door, cab, and hood. The only part of the cab left was right where the driver was seated,” OHP said. “He walked away from the crash.

Troopers say that the pickup driver was wearing his seatbelt and that this likely saved his life.

OHP shared dramatic images captured at the crash site to drive home the message about safe driving.
