The Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit (ISPCMVU) is reminding truckers to take extra caution with trailer securement after a recent incident involving a tanker.

On April 2, ISPCMVU shared several alarming images of a detached tanker trailer with Hazmat placards sitting on the ground a few feet away from a truck along with a safety reminder.

“Always make sure your trailers are securely attached to your truck! Thankfully this happened just before the truck got onto the interstate rather than happening at high speeds,” Iowa troopers said.
