A pregnant teenage girl was found “hitchhiking” at a truck stop on Wednesday, two months after she went missing.
The missing 17-year-old girl was reportedly last seen on February 2nd. She was three months pregnant and 16-year-old at the time of her disappearance. She was believed to be traveling from Wisconsin to Arkansas with Gary Day, the 40-year-old father of her unborn child
According to WOWT 6, a clerk at the Love’s Travel Stop off of Highway 50 south of Interstate 80 in south Omaha, Nebraska, noticed a teenage girl and a man “hitchhiking” around the semi trucks parked at the truck stop. The clerk then looked up current Amber Alerts and found an alert matching the description of the girl attempting to hitchhike, so she contacted police.
Beaver Dam Police arrived at the truck stop at 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2nd, and confirmed that the hitchhiking girl was the missing teenager. The man she was traveling with was confirmed to be Day, who had cut off his ankle monitor to travel with the girl.
Day was wanted for charges of child abduction and enticement. Authorities believe he had been sex trafficking the girl for several months.
