The national average price for a gallon of diesel rose 4.7 cents to $3.639, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data released April 8.
The increase is the third straight and more than the previous two combined. Trucking’s main fuel, whose price is 42.2 cents less than at this time in 2024, has gained 9 cents a gallon since March 17.

Regional Trends
Diesel’s average price climbed in all five PADD districts, ranging from a high of 6 cents in the Midwest to a low of 1.8 cents on the East Coast.
The West Coast, less California, showed the highest increase at 6.5 cents.

Gasoline Update
The national average price for a gallon of gasoline shot up 8.1 cents a gallon to $3.243. That’s 34.8 cents less than it cost at this time a year ago.
