The California Highway Patrol (CHP) recently conducted a single day traffic enforcement operation that netted hundreds of citations.

On April 9, 2025, CHP troopers from the Bakersfield, Buttonwillow, Fort Tejon, Central Division Commercial/SAFE, and Newhall divisions partnered for a special enforcement operation on I-5 through the Grapevine. 

Between from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., CHP troopers conducted traffic enforcement on both passenger and commercial vehicle drivers.

See results of the Grapevine enforcement detail below:

  • 318 citations were issued
    • 225 for speed
    • 54 for commercial out of lane/commercial speed
    • 29 for mechanical violations
    • 3 for cell phone violations
    • 7 for seatbelt violations
  • 15 warnings were issued
  • 26 commercial vehicles were inspected
    • Five drivers were placed out-of-service
    • One vehicle was placed out-of-service
    • 20 log book violations were discovered
  • 2 vehicles were impounded

“Do your part by developing safe driving habits and let’s get to our destination in a safe manner,” CHP said.
