Authorities in Kentucky are reminding drivers to pay attention to signage after a commercial vehicle driver recently entered flood waters in a box truck in the Crittenden County area.

At 11 p.m. on April 17, first responders were called for a commercial vehicle that had driven into floodwaters on KY-365.

The driver had ignored and driven around (2) barricades and past a ‘Water Over Road’ sign and into the water from the Union Co side of the road closure. Upon arrival at the scene, the driver had reached dry ground and was safe. The truck was recovered and towed out of the water by Stinnet’s Wrecker Service,” Crittenden County, Ky Emergency Management said.

The recovery took until around 4 a.m. on April 18.

“Instances like this is why we keep reiterating that it is not safe to ignore signs and enter flood waters,” Crittenden County officials said.
