The truck driver arrested for allegedly knocking a car into a frozen lake and driving away from the scene has been extradited back to West Virginia to answer his charges.

Singh is believed to have caused a January accident that sent motorist Kevin Lataille skidding into Cheat Lake. Lataille was missing for four days before he was found inside of his wrecked car in the frozen lake.

When interviewed with the help of a translator, Singh told investigators that he had been driving a tractor trailer at the time of the crash, but denied hitting any vehicles. Through surveillance video, investigators determined that Singh’s reckless driving directly caused the crash. Singh was arrested in California on March 6th.

According to 5 WDTV, Sukhjinder Singh refused to waive extradition regarding the negligent homicide warrant for his arrest, meaning he refused to return to West Virginia willingly to answer for his alleged crime, back in March. Singh instead chose to wait for a governor’s warrant ordering him into the custody of West Virginia. On Wednesday morning, April 30th, a California judge served Singh with the governor’s warrant, ordering him to the custody of West Virginia from his home in California.
