A brand new truck driver rescued a man from a burning car after it crashed into his trailer this week.

Truck driver Charles Vickers was driving along Interstate 16 in Dublin, Georgia when a car crashed into the back of his tractor trailer. Vickers was able to pull over to the shoulder, but it wasn’t until he got out of his rig that he realized the car was wedged underneath the trailer and was starting to catch fire.

“He wasn’t able to move. He wasn’t able to get out,” Vickers said to WALB 10. “Watching him burn—I couldn’t do that. I just couldn’t live with that on my conscience.”

Vickers ran over to the car as the vehicle caught fire and managed to pull the motorist out of the driver’s seat. Vickers then used his fire extinguisher to put out the flames, and two other truckers even stopped to help and used their own fire extinguishers.

“That was me pullin dude out the car, I ain’t know somebody recorded it tho,” he said in response to a video of the rescue.

Vickers says he is a brand new trucker, and has been driving for less than six months.
