Morgan Olson has introduced a more compact addition to its fleet with the launch of the Kestrel work truck, designed to serve a growing demand for smaller, more efficient service vehicles.

The Michigan-based manufacturer, known for its dominance in the step van segment, positioned the Kestrel as a versatile alternative for vocations ranging from last-mile delivery to emergency response. The model is smaller than the company’s traditional step vans but incorporates the same build standards aimed at durability and longevity.

“Many vocations appear to be seeking smaller applications for their delivery and service needs, and we are excited to present the Kestrel as a work truck solution,” said Joe Rudolph, vice president of sales and marketing at Morgan Olson.

Founded in 1945 and headquartered in Sturgis, Mich., Morgan Olson accounts for nearly 70% of step vans on the road in North America, according to the firm. The company is a business unit of J.B. Poindexter & Co., and has expanded its product lines in recent years to serve a wider range of vocational markets.

The Kestrel offers several configuration options, including left- and right-hand drive as well as four-wheel drive. Customizable cargo access and upgraded interior features reflect what the company describes as “automotive” levels of cab comfort.

In addition to delivery and utility applications, Morgan Olson said the Kestrel’s development considered feedback from law enforcement agencies, fire departments and other first responders who need fuel-efficient vehicles suited to urban and suburban environments.

“Safety and serviceability were among our top priorities in developing the Kestrel,” Rudolph said. “These latest technologies are supported by an existing service network.”

The company said enhanced safety features and its established nationwide service infrastructure would support the vehicle’s deployment across both domestic and international markets. No pricing or production timeline details were disclosed in the announcement.
