One driver is dead after an unexplained chain reaction crash on Interstate 70 in Maryland on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at about 6:36 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Maryland Route 32 in Howard County, Maryland.

According to WBAL News, all three commercial vehicles were traveling east on Interstate 70 when a Mack work truck crashed into the back of a tractor trailer. That crash forced the tractor trailer into the back of a flatbed semi truck hauling wooden roof trusses, which scattered the material across the roadway.

38-year-old driver of the Mack truck, Joshua Donta Wilson, died at the scene of the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The crash blocked I-70 at Maryland Route 32 in West Friendship as crews worked to clear the spilled load from the road. Traffic was detoured until the reopening of the interstate at about 11 a.m.

The cause of the accident involving multiple big rigs is still unexplained. The incident is under investigation.
