The cause of a fire that destroyed 10 semi trucks at a trucking company in Louisiana is still unclear, but definitely wasn’t lightning, the Fire chief says.

The fire happened on Wednesday morning, May 7th at about 4:30 a.m. at CRC trucking in Kenner, Louisiana. Since then, Kenner Fire Chief Administrator and investigators have been looking into the incident.

According to Fox 8, the fire consumed 10 truck cabs and damaged four other vehicles, but did not reach any of the buildings. No one was hurt, but the fire did cause 17 fuel tanks to rupture, which “ignited the fuel so we had to use foam to extinguish the fire. We set up lines to make sure the fire didn’t spread any further,” said Kenner Fire Chief Administrator Jason Dyer.

The fire did occur as storms were passing through the area, but lightning has been ruled out as a cause. However, investigators say the storm likely did cause the fire to grow more rapidly.

“They have it on video where the flames were spreading rapidly due to the winds,” Dyer said. “The cause is still undetermined at this time, but Mother Nature is not going to be the cause of this fire.”
