The death toll in a multi vehicle crash involving a semi truck in Tennessee on Sunday evening is still unclear.
The accident happened on Sunday, May 11th just before 4:30 p.m. in Hamilton County, Tennessee.
According to News Channel 9, the crash happened on Interstate 75 northbound near the Tennessee Welcome Center at mile marker 0.8. The crash involved a semi truck and six other vehicles. Two cars caught fire after the wreck, and fire fighters reportedly prioritized rescuing the people trapped inside.
Multiple people were seriously hurt, including one minor. Authorities have confirmed “multiple fatalities,” but have not released any more specifics regarding the death toll in the chain reaction crash.
The crash kept a portion on I-75 closed for multiple hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage. The roadway was cleared by rush hour on Monday morning.
