On the CDLLife App, real drivers share their real experiences—the good, the funny, and the helpful.
Here’s a highlight of a post that has been starting conversations in the community this week.
One driver, Missy Masterson, recently posted about having successfully becoming a CDL holder after 8 weeks of training, and that she intended to begin her career this time next week.
Users on CDLLife rushed to congratulate her and wish Missy good luck on the next exciting step in her career, as well as to offer helpful advice and insights to her.
Congratulations! After 27 years behind the wheel if there is any advice I could give you is take it slow and steady till you get the hang of it. Ask questions. Trip plan accordingly. With starting early you’re more likely to find parking at the end of your day. Don’t let dispatch force you to do anything you’re not comfortable with. When backing up don’t be afraid to get out and look. It’s best to be safe then to back into a truck.

Welcome to the lifestyle. This is truly the most rewarding career and I hope that you will enjoy it all when this gets in your blood and it will you will love what you do and cherish every good ride. Learn as much as you can ask all the questions you want, but get home safe at the end of every shift no matter who you work for no matter what color the truck no matter what the pay is this job is very rewarding. Be safe out there, and God bless.
