Louisiana officials are warning the public to use caution after several inmates escaped from jail on Friday morning.

According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO), officials discovered that the following eleven inmates were missing from a New Orleans jail during a routine headcount conducted at 8:30 a.m. on May 16.

  • Jermain Donald
  • Corey Boyd
  • Gary Price
  • Robert Mood
  • Decannon Dennis
  • Keith Lewis

Louisiana State Police confirmed that one of the eleven escaped inmates, Kendall Myles, was re-captured in the French Quarter.

The other ten inmates remain at large.

The OPSO says that the escaped inmates are considered “armed and dangerous.”

CBS News reports that several of the escaped inmates were facing charges for murder or other violent crimes.

A manhunt is currently underway, with OPSO partnering with state and local law enforcement agencies to locate the remaining escaped inmates. The FBI and the U.S. Marshals have also joined the search.
