A truck driver is facing assault charges after he knocked out a homeowner yelling at him for using his property to turn his semi truck around.
The incident happened on Wednesday, May 14th in the 4200 block of Susquehanna Trail in Conewago Township, Pennsylvania.
According to witnesses at the scene, 31-year-old truck driver Brandon Dominique Hargraves was using private property as a turnaround in his semi truck when the property owner came out to yell at him. The property owner then went back inside and returned to the yard with a firearm in his waistband.
The property owner did not draw the weapon, but did engage in a verbal argument with Hargraves. Hargraves eventually punched the property owner in the face. The man was left knocked out on the ground, and later told police that he did not remember what happened. The man was taken to a hospital dazed and with blood on his face, reported York Dispatch.
After the knock out, Hargraves got back into his rig and drove off. He was eventually stopped by troopers on Interstate 83 near mile marker 41.8. He told troopers he did not recall punching the man, and did not know he had been knocked out, but did admit to backhanding him, and said he felt scared so he left.
Hargraves told police he thought he was being followed by an SUV after the incident and stated that the SUV tried to run into him and disable his rig. The motorist in the SUV later told police that he had tried to stop the truck driver because he thought he was fleeing the scene of a crime.
Hargraves was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and accident involving a damaged attended vehicle. He has since posted $80,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 30th.
