A truck driver was rushed to the hospital after he was found impaled on rebar at a construction site under an Interstate 35 bridge.

The truck driver was found by a construction worker at about 4 p.m. on Monday, May 19th at a work site under I-35 northbound near the 2nd Street exit.

According to KOCO News 5, the truck driver had been stopped by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper earlier in the day. During the stop, the driver had forgotten to set the parking brake on his semi truck, causing the rig to roll into the patrol car. The trooper then impounded the driver’s tractor trailer and had it towed away. The truck driver left the scene on foot.

Later that day, a construction worker found the driver impaled on some rebar at a work site and called 911. The Edmond Fire Department cut the rebar and transported the man to a hospital, where he was brought into surgery.

The truck driver has not been publicly identified, and his current condition has not been released. It is not yet known if the driver fell off of I-35 or jumped.
