Officials announced the opening of a new commercial vehicle enforcement facility in San Luis Obispo County, California.

On Thursday, May 22, the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Coastal Division announced that a “brand-new” commercial vehicle enforcement facility has opened along eastbound and westbound State Route 46 in San Luis Obispo County.

“These dedicated lanes give CHP inspectors and commercial drivers a safe space for inspections — helping keep everyone on the road safer,” troopers said.

Officials say that the new commercial vehicle enforcement facility is part of an ongoing project spearheaded by Caltrans to improve safety and mobility along SR-46.

CHP shared photos of the new facility and commercial vehicles passing through.
