One of the trucking industry’s most iconic female drivers passed away on Monday following a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

On June 2, Mirah Lesa Worley Hughes (formerly known as Lesa Worley) passed away in Halls, Tennessee, at the age of 68, according to family members and her obituary.

Worley was born on October 16, 1956, in Lenoir City, Tennessee.

Better known by her handle “Yo-Yo,” Worley was a 39 year veteran trucker who famously won the Atlanta Motor Speedway bobtail truck race in 1979.

Worley was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2011.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for medical bills and funeral expenses.

Worley’s fiesty personality and trucking prowess were captured in a segment of the Real People television program, which you can view below.

Many members of the trucking community have taken to social media to honor Worley’s legacy and share messages of respect for her trailblazing and adventurous spirit.
