A new suspect has been named in the investigation into an attack at an Arizona rest stop that left a truck driver with severe brain injuries.

Detectives from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office have identified a new suspect in the assault of a truck driver at the rest area near San Simon, Arizona. The victim, publicly named only as ‘Jack,’ has been in a coma since the attack back in February. Jack suffered serious brain damage and had all of his teeth knocked out. Surgeons that have operated on Jack describe his injuries as some of the worst it is possible for a person to sustain.

According to News 4 Tucson, Detectives have carefully reviewed each truck that entered and exited the rest stop at the time of Jack’s assault, and have determined a suspect in the case – 41-year-old Azizbek Akhadov from Pennsylvania. Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Akhadov, but he is believed to have fled to Uzbekistan. Authorities are currently working with Interpol to locate and arrest him. There is a $500,000 bond attached to his arrest warrant.

“Thousands of trucks come down this interstate 24/7 to be able to narrow it down to just one truck involved in this crime to include the driver is incredible work,” said Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels. “We are working our foreign relations to get him detained and back over here.”

“We are going to do everything we can to bring justice to the family, bring justice to our victim in this case and get him back here to hold him accountable for his actions,” he said.
