A truck driver accused of shooting at a car for “driving too slow” has been ordered detained while awaiting his trail.

34-year-old Robertas Nenadovic-Jasinskas was arrested in Burlington, Wisconsin on May 17th after a road rage shooting in Gurnee, Illinois at about 11:05 p.m. the night before. His first court appearance was in Lake County, Illinois on June 3rd. His detention hearing was June 5th.

According to Lake & McHenry County Scanner, police responded to reports of a shooting on Interstate 94 near Grand Avenue in Gurnee. In that incident, Nenadovic-Jasinskas reportedly fired two shots at a car in front of his tractor trailer traveling at only 50 mph because it was “driving too slow”. Nenadovic-Jasinskas then left the scene, but was identified, located, and detained by police the next day. No one was hurt in the road rage shooting.

During his detainment hearing on June 5th, it was determined that Nenadovic-Jasinskas would remain in custody, due to lack of ties to Illinois and a previous charge of escape in Detroit from approximately 2015.

It was also determined that “a real and present danger does exist based on the fact that he decided to fire two shots at another car for driving too slow,” said Lake County Judge Michael Nerheim.

“Shooting at another vehicle on the interstate with so much traffic over something so ridiculous shows the character and the judgment calls of this defendant,” said Assistant Lake County State’s Attorney Dino Katris.

Nenadovic-Jasinskas is facing a Class 4 felony charge of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
